Warrior II is often one of the first standing poses in a vinyasa sequence. The reason being that many find this pose a bit more manageable than its predecessor, Warrior I. This is because it doesn’t require as much openness in the hip flexors of the training leg. This pose embodies the divine masculine energy of the warrior as well as the divine feminine of a hip opening pose. It is a wonderful pose of empowerment, grace and embodiment. Focus over the front hand can be a metaphor of gazing upon adversity and obstacles in life with the intention to powerfully more forward and through with the sword like intensity of the arms. Coupled with the victorious breath of the warrior, this pose is sure to instill your inner goddess warrior.
