Rebecca Aparicio and Stephen Elkins have been married for 10 years! The fun couple met at the University of Montevallo while performing in choir together and working together to put up original musicals as part of the university’s homecoming tradition, College Night. Since then they have been a dynamic creative team.
Their band, WILD MAGNOLIA is an acoustic music collective that plays traditional and original Bluegrass, Folk, Jazz, and Americana music. The band’s EP album will be released soon. You can check them out at their monthly gig at HandCraft NYC every first Monday of the month. They also play several venues in Astoria, their neighborhood, which has a vibrant music scene. The band also plays weddings, corporate events, and last year they performed at Woodstock Poland.
WILD MAGNOLIA’s current and past members hail from Down South, Up North, Poland, and Japan, and our various musical backgrounds bring a fresh spin to traditional music.
Rebecca and Stephen just finished heading up a run of their original musical, PEDRO PAN (www.pedropanthemusical.com), as part of the New York Musical Festival. It had a sold-out run Off-Broadway at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row. Pedro Pan “resonates today” said NBC NEWS, it was called a Must-See by FoxNY, and it won 5 NYMF 2018 awards including a Special Citation for Social Relevance and Impact.
