Healer of the Month: David Foster, Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist

I am a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist, originally from New York, and earned my Master’s degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 2013. My training included four years of education in the principles of Chinese Medicine as well as Tui-Na massage, cupping and nutrition. I completed my externship at Housing Works LGBT Center in Greenwich Village and have apprenticed under Dr. Frank Butler and Dr. Clayton Shiu for a combined total of three years. Presently I see patients in private practice on both the Upper West and Upper East Side.

Chinese Medicine helped me with my own issues with anxiety, insomnia and Gout disease, and I honestly have no idea where I’d be without it. I subscribe heavily to the principles of holistic healing, which hold that a) the body is a system of interrelated parts, b) diet/lifestyle is at least half of every condition and c) there is no 1:1 correlation between symptoms and prescription of treatment. Everyone is a unique individual and should be treated as such. My second passion is writing and so I relish in the opportunity to combine the two on my site’s blog: https://www.davidfosteracupuncture.com/acu-blog
