Dear Teachers

Dear Sonic Teachers,

As the Winter Solstice approaches it’s a wonderful time to gaze within and contemplate your successes and challenges of the past year. For many, 2018 has been a hard year, but there are always hidden gifts in the difficulties of life that we can use to grow and evolve. These gems are a bridge that can take us from darkness to light and allow our radiance to shine out into the world. I’ve learned this self inquiry practice to move through the darkness and awaken the inner light that I’ve been using lately and wanted to share it with you.

When you are experiencing any sort of difficulty, challenge, or negative emotion in life, first relax and tell yourself to SURRENDER. Allow the hard feelings to wash over you and breathe into them, go as deep as you can allow yourself to, even if it means releasing some tears which can be a powerful yet beautiful way to clear stagnant painful energy.

Stay focused on the feelings through journaling, drawing, dancing or any form of art that comes naturally for you. Then ask yourself: WHAT IS THE LESSON? Take some time to listen inward in meditation or in a quiet space. You can journal or express the inner wisdom of the lesson through art or by sharing with a close friend or family member.

Continue to repeat this process until you feel the emotional block clearing. When you begin to feel the shift you can ask yourself: WHAT IS THE GIFT? There is always a gift when we allow ourselves to journey down this path of self-inquiry to surrender, learn, grow and transform.

Once you’ve discovered THE GIFT, you can enjoy your new-found wisdom and explore ways to share it with others through giving and teaching.

Exploring this year’s successes is a bit more of a simple process, but for some of us who can be hard on ourselves and may have a difficult time owning our gifts you may want to follow the same process as above.

SURRENDER to the positive feelings, allow yourself to relax into a space of self-love, celebrate your strengths and breathe into your happiness and bliss.

If you find it difficult to surrender into your joys, then take a moment and ask yourself, WHAT IS THE LESSON? Here you will locate the obstacles to honoring your greatness. Allow yourself to express any resistance to self-love through journaling, art or by sharing with a friend or loved one.

And then again ask yourself: WHAT IS THE GIFT? By this point it will start to become very clear that the GIFT is YOU, your perfect, imperfect, radiant being, filled with love and light.

The next part is easy just let that light shine out and allow it to heal yourself, your loved ones, community and the world.

Wishing you all a radiant holiday filled with self-love and light.

Lauren
