YOGI OF THE MONTH: Allisa Marie Peterson
WHERE YOU GREW UP: Cherry Hill, New Jersey
WHEN DID YOU MOVE TO NYC? August 2017.
OCCUPATION: I work in the floral design industry
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PRACTICING YOGA? Since 2010
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN COMING TO SONIC? I first stepped foot in the studio in March.
MOST UNFORGETTABLE YOGA MEMORY? Finding sonic yoga. I have always been searching for a place where I feel I can grow and feel comfortable practicing. Sonic has become more than that to me. It is becoming a second home, and I love the Sonic family.
LIFE LESSON LEARNED FROM YOGA? Focus on the flow of breath and everything will follow.
FAVORITE MUSICIAN: Pretty Lights Live or FKJ
FAVORITE MOVIE:A Clockwork Orange
FAVORITE BOOK: You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay. This book helped me overcome so many self-abusive tendencies and allowed me to heal mentally, physically and emotionally. I still read it over often to remind myself.
FAVORITE SEASON: Fall. The colors are so aesthetically pleasing, especially in upstate New York.
FAVORITE ARTIST: Amanda Sage
FAVORITE NEW YORK MEMORY: Eating brunch for the first time outside at Tavern on the Green. Everything just felt magical. The warm springtime sun was shining, the tulips and dogwood trees were in full bloom and the food was excellent. We sat there for three hours sipping on mimosas and admiring the timeless beauty of Central Park.
PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE: What you think and believe becomes your energetic force, and will shape your life experiences. Being conscious of your thoughts is crucial to growth.
FAVORITE PLACE IN MANHATTAN: After Sonic Yoga of course, it’s probably The Alchemist’s Kitchen in the East Village. I spend a lot of time here.
