Ardha Chandrasana, half-moon pose, became one of my favorite poses pretty early into my practice. Physically, I enjoy everything this pose offers: hip opening, leg strengthening and stretching, and core engagement. In my practice, this is one of the poses that can feel different every time for me, I have to work and breathe for it, and physically trust my body to expand higher and deeper into an upward lift. What I truly love the most about being in half-moon is actually the lesson I am reminded of beyond the physical: of the duality that exists between being rooted and ever expansive. This pose also reminds me that balancing in a pose is not a final destination. Rather, it’s continued work – allowing your body and mind to be soft with the ebb and flow of the breath, so that you can explore and achieve balance while being soft, expansive and powerful at the same time.
