Parivrtta Parsvakonasana Revolved Side Angle Pose
Twists are such a dynamic and comprehensive group of yoga postures- the deep stretches through the body, the cleansing effect from the “wringing out” of the the digestive organs, the space that opens between each vertebrae and the corresponding healing affects on the spine, and finally the stimulation of subtle energy in the pelvic region that then moves up the through the Shushumna Nadi- wow! Hard to beat this category of postures and hard to beat this variant. Why? Leverage.
The lunge, which is the foundation of this asana, gives the practitioner a base to utilize the limbs as levers to engage real force to bring about the wondrous benefits that twisting brings to the gross and subtle systems of the body. Make sure you’re warm, follow your breath, then dig in and make something happen!
