Where has Yoga has taken you?
Yoga has brought me back to connect with my SPIRIT! For years all I understood was the physical practice-it was another workout for me. It was only about 15 years ago after I had my third sinus surgery and could finally breathe through my nose that I really began to properly connect my breath with my movements. I then started to work/connect on the mind piece of the practice which has taken me through a ton of self-discovery and personal growth. It has not only helped me to heal my inner child from some very deep childhood “wounds” but also continues to strengthen my body, mind and overall well-being so that I can help others. Yoga hasn’t taken me anywhere but rather is traveling within me always.

How did your yoga teacher training influence your life?
Teaching yoga for me has become an internal “calling”-which came to me during my 200-hour Intensive Teacher Training at Sonic Yoga. I had entered into the training to deepen my practice and help ease the pain of the loss of my mother, who was my best friend and confidant. Through that intensive training journey the real calling of teaching came to me. I have a passion for teaching and bringing people to yoga and enjoy watching them bloom. While the physical poses and the alignment and basic principles are imperative to learn, I also love to show students that yoga is so much more than that. Adding the breath and the mind practice shows them that yoga is something that travels with them, off the mat into every aspect of their lives. I like to show students the doorway to open their hearts and let LOVE in!

Yoga teacher training has reignited me. It has allowed me to show my authentic self and uplift others with warm love, caring, humor and continuous energy. I love preparing new classes for my students and personalizing them to grow with my students. I have also learned that all my planning might be thrown out the window when I get to a new class and I “read” the room and realize that what I prepared is not right for this class. My yoga training has helped me to let it go and not sweat the small stuff-what is important are the students in the room and that I am giving them the fundamental principles wrapped in a cloak of love and compassion-with a dash of humor. I am devoted to helping them feel better and avoid injury.

Now with the 500 YTT at Sonic Yoga in my “tool belt” I can tell you that Yoga is truly an integral part of my daily life; it is my lifestyle. I practice daily, have been changing my diet to more organic- plant based foods and will be a student of yoga gleefully for life! I am grateful beyond words for the influences that yoga brings to my life every day!
