Thank You to All Mothers by Chris Temple

I find it funny every year on Mother’s Day, when I wish people a ‘Happy Mother’s Day,’ they explain to me that they are not a mother. I then explain to them that I know they are also not Santa Claus but I will most likely wish them a Merry Christmas if I see them on Christmas Day. In my own head that makes sense.

But on a more serious note; I think part of the reason why I wish people a Happy Mother’s Day is because there is a bit of mother figure in all of us. Perhaps we have not held a baby in our womb or raised a child through the delicate years of infancy, but there are many ways to take the role of mother just in the way that we act and care for someone or something. I am grateful to my actual Mother for being a guiding light in my universe. I am grateful to our universal Mother for the creation of that universe. I am grateful to the Mother of Sonic Yoga, Lauren Hanna, who always been the heart beating underneath this amazing community. I am grateful to anyone who has mothered a friend, a thought, a dream, a business, a plant, an animal, a home or any other part of this beautiful world. It is when we take on the role of a caring mother that this world becomes a more beautiful loving place. Thank you all for being part of this beautiful place.
Namaste,
Chris
