Travel Within by Christopher Temple

I recently arrived back in NYC after 10 days basking the pura vida of Costa Rica. What a wonderful trip it was! We went surfing, hiking, swimming, zip lining and just lounged around downright lazy style. Getting off the grid, deep into the jungle does wonders for the soul. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that re-entry was a little brutal, especially after getting walloped with that noreaster last week.

Now I’m on my way to Japan and I’m super excited to go but at the same time all this travel has got my vatta up at an all time high. Trust me, I’m not complaining. I realize what a gift it is to travel and I don’t think that I am unique in feeling this way because, truth be told, my vatta gets knocked around on the daily just being a regular in the NYC grind. The endless running around and trying to keep up with myself, my family, my friends, my girlfriend and my job can be exhausting.

It’s important for me to take some time to do some traveling on the inside to make sure that I’m staying grounded and present. Meditation is of the upmost importance or, quite frankly, I can get a little “cray.” One great way to meditate is with the breath using a good ol’ pranayama technique. Using the breath to to journey within and explore the masculine and feminine can be an invaluable tool to find the divine balance that we need to experience bliss in our everyday lives.

I have included a video here using different versions of nadi shodhana for you to follow along. This specific exercise works in the following way.

Awaken the feminine
Awaken the masculine
Allow the feminine to communicate with the masculine
Allow the masculine to communicate with the feminine
Create an infinity of fluid communication between both hemispheres

I hope that you will find it grounding and balancing. Let me know how it works.

See you on the mat,
