HONORING PREGNANCY AND THE GODDESS
teacher training
Through the integration of Anatomy, Ayurveda, Vinyasa, Prana Vinyasa Flow and Sacred Fertility Yoga, we will provide you with tools needed to create a safe, unique and supportive experience of prenatal yoga. Exploring the feminine energy current and its role in conception, pregnancy, and childbirth you’ll learn to design and teach a yoga class for the mother that is at once, dynamic and nurturing, creates community and builds confidence in the mother’s ability to bring new life into the world.
85-Hour Program (3 Weekend Modules)

Module 1 -Anatomy and Shakti Sadhana

This module will begin with a foundation in anatomy with teacher Sarah Yukie Gingrich. Day one will focus on anatomy for pregnancy and fetal development. We’ll learn what causes the physiological, energetic and emotional changes by trimester, the discomforts often associated with the changes and simple ways to relieve them. Saturday and Sunday will be dedicated to Shakti Sadhana. Taught by Lauren Hanna and created by Shiva Rea, the practice is designed to open our creative power, sustain life, and dissolve what binds us. It will connect modern-day Yoginis with the ancient yoga traditions that honor the feminine current within all of creation. This module will explore the Goddess energy that is so relevant to the emotional & spiritual process of pregnancy & birth. You will learn 3 namaskars created by Shiva Rea that are perfect for practice during pregnancy. Shakti Namaskars for Saraswati Ma (the creative flow), Lakshmi Ma (the abundant flow), Durga Ma (the empowered flow), and Chandra Namaskar as healing sequences expressing the full spectrum of pregnancy. This module provides students with 24 of the 85 contact hours required to meet the YA prenatal standards for RPYT Certification.

Module Two – Ayurveda and Vinyasa

In this module, we will begin studying modifications, mudras, pranayama and meditation specific to each trimester and sequencing for classes and privates. We will explore the powerful feminine energy so that as teachers, we can support the pregnant goddess through the physical, mental and spiritual shifts of pregnancy and birth.

Two sessions, taught by Shweta Parmar, will be dedicated to Ayurveda and how to apply the techniques in pregnancy and postpartum. We’ll share a Saturday afternoon ayurvedic potluck! This module provides students with 24 of the 85 contact hours required to meet the YA prenatal standards for RPYT Certification.

Module Three – Anatomy and Vinyasa

This module is a continuation of module 2 taught by Lauren Hanna and Sarah Ireland with a further study of modifications, sequencing, and adding hands-on assists and practice teaching. With a further study of anatomy, we’ll look at the physiological changes in labor and delivery and learn how to support the woman as she expands in feminine consciousness in preparation for childbirth. We’ll learn how meditation, pranayama, asana, and mantra can be used in preparation for labor and delivery. We’ll discuss “high risk” pregnancy, along with choices regarding health care providers, various options for birth and how we can support the mother in those choices. We’ll review nutrition and best practices for the fourth trimester/postpartum. The weekend will culminate in a final teaching practicum and graduation ritual. This module provides students with 24 of the 85 contact hours required to meet the YA prenatal standards for RPYT Certification.
