Where has yoga taken you?

As easy as this question sounds, it is a very deep question!
Yoga can strengthen your body and mind for sure but we all have different results on how yoga has worked and works for many of us.
I remember many of my co-workers at one of my former jobs while I was living in NYC knew about my passion for Yoga since I was always talking about it and was always practicing a new headstand inversion while on my break!
Just talking about it, people heard the  passion in my voice and I don’t want to exaggerate but there’s a lot of friends who have done yoga because of the way that I used to talk about it.  There is nothing like it.
Also one of the things that I am very grateful for is that Yoga has given me the tools to work on my body, one of them has been that downward facing dogs have made the long time pain I had due to a car accident disappear, I had paid thousands of dollars for therapy and meds to ease the pain but nothing worked until I did yoga constantly for many years.

How did yoga teacher training influence your life?

I think it had to be all the beautiful people I met through doing my yoga teacher training and going to classes itself.  I am an introverted person so speaking to people or approaching people was hard for me, at Sonic I felt welcome and just as I was excited to see my teachers and yogi mates they were excited to see me as well. I loved the community that came from Sonic and will never forget that. Sonic helped me to become more outgoing for sure!

How was your first yoga experience?

My first yoga experience was not Sonic Yoga, it was at a gym’s yoga class. My experience was not pleasant, I just went because I was excited about yoga class but I went to the class without knowing what type of yoga class it was, or what level and also the teacher didn’t ask if we wanted to be modified into a pose, which is something to watch out for since all body types aren’t the same, I was a very thin person and stiff.

But my first yoga experience at Sonic Yoga was spectacular! My first class was with Keith Partington and the way he taught the class was the way I could only follow a class, he goes to the point but he lets you into a pose for a couple of breaths and into another one. For me, that is what I needed, focus.
