You Are Light

BY LAUREN HANNA, FOUNDER OF SONIC YOGA

Repeat after me:

I am a light. The light I am.
I am a light. The light I am.
I am a light. The light I am.

Namaste

The Yoga philosophy teaches us that all is energy. And that energy of all is divine.  We are one big, beautiful collection of the same source energy that is inherently perfect and blissful. So, when the world becomes chaotic and hate and violence seems to be rising all around us, it is very difficult for us to not feel that vibration within our own hearts and souls.

I have so many students coming to me with the question of what can I do to make myself feel better? How can I shake these feelings of fear and worry.  Sometimes the inner light grows dim, and it requires action to re-awaken that light and return to a place of hope and faith.

The Yoga tradition teaches us that we can shift energy, that we can heal and restore ourselves to our natural state of perfection and bliss.  So, I offer you this simple Mantra practice inspired by a dear teacher and friend Monica Mesa.

You are light.

Repeat after me:
I am a light. The light I am.
I am a light. The light I am.
I am a light. The light I am.

This simple mantra can be a powerful tool in turning your shadow energy back to the light.

I like to say it in nature, open my arms up to the sky and speak it in all directions.  You can add it to your namaskars by repeating it as you move from pose to pose.  You can also just say it out loud, or write it down, or sing it to yourself.

Other ways to work with this mantra is to look in the mirror and repeat it to yourself.

Or create something with it like a painting or a collage.

Display this mantra somewhere you can see it every day!

“The more energy you put into the mantra, the more powerful it will become.”

With peace + love,

Lauren
