I bang this drum often but it bears repeating — there is a season for everything, Energies at play in those seasons support a way of moving through the days that aligns one with natural forces. If we’re calling ourselves yogis this is the way. There are times to take action and push things forward —Fall & Spring— and times to absorb and reflect — Winter & Summer. To work against this is to feel like you’re working against this. This feeling brings agitation and dissatisfaction. But of course the culture we live in wants us to push us all the time. And we’re being pushed and reminded and tugged this way and that as soon as we wake up and fire up the phone. So moving in harmony with the seasons despite this is challenging. It requires mindfulness, presence, discernment and plain standing up for yourself. But we call ourselves yogis and this is the way.
Anyway, here we are moving into this slow down phase where lying around outdoors and reading a great book is a common practice. How perfectly appropriate. We instinctively pick up something outside of ourselves and take it in. Let it settle. Let it shift perceptions and bring fresh perspective to our circumstances.
This Summer we’re offering opportunities for just such receiving practices, as it happens. Lori McAlister and Mitch Hipp are leading two Master Classes for all comers, and each are followed by a few hours on targeted self reflection and a look at the roots of the Vinyasa practice, respectively.
Spend some time in a circle with us. We’re yogis, and this is our way.
