POSE OF THE MONTH: Alex Tripp Chooses Downward Facing Dog

Downward Facing Dog
Adho Muhka Svanasana
January is the month for new beginnings.  Many of us create New Year resolutions.  My resolution this year is to find grounding and calm.  I chose this pose, because not only are you grounding down through the feet, but you are also grounding through the hands.  The forward folding action of this pose, also creates a sense of calm and keeps the mind at ease.  It is a great opener for shoulders, spine, and heart- and a great way to build strength in the upper body.  With all that is going on in the world, it’s important to come back to our practice and focus on ourselves and how the yoga can be a form of self care, grounding, and peace of mind, body and soul.
