How has your understanding of yoga evolved since you first started practicing?
When I first stepped onto the mat, I was struggling with work stress and had a lot of trouble sleeping. Yoga, especially the breathwork, became my sanctuary. It helped calm my mind and ease tension. At first, my practice was purely physical, moving through asanas, building strength, and increasing flexibility. But over time, my understanding of yoga has deepened into something much more holistic. Now, yoga is a way of life, extending beyond the mat into breathwork, mindfulness, and energetic balance. This evolution has also intertwined with my work in feng shui, where I see both yoga and spatial harmony as tools for creating flow, balance, and alignment in life.
How has yoga influenced your personal life?
Yoga has been a grounding force, helping me cultivate inner peace, resilience, and clarity. It has taught me to be present, trust the process, and embrace stillness in moments of uncertainty. My practice has also enhanced my work in feng shui. Just as yoga aligns the body’s energy, feng shui aligns the energy of a space. Both have given me the ability to create harmony not only within myself but also in the environments I design.
What are the key lessons you learned during your teacher training?
Sonic Yoga’s teacher training was a transformational experience. It reinforced that yoga is not about perfecting poses but about deepening self-awareness, showing up with authenticity, and holding space for others. I learned the power of breath, the importance of honoring my own journey, and share the practice in a way that resonates with others.
Beyond the teachings, this experience has created an incredible bond within our group of teacher trainees. We have become like family, supporting each other not just in our yoga journeys but in life. We’ve even traveled together to New Mexico and continue to have gatherings, celebrating the deep connection we’ve built. It was also an honor to bring my feng shui expertise to Sonic Yoga’s studio, enhancing its energy flow to create a sanctuary where students can fully immerse themselves in their practice.
