How has your undertanding of yoga evolved since you first started practicing?
When I first started practicing, I thought yoga was only what happened when you went to class. You showed up, moved through the poses, and that was it. As if you could just go to class over and over and all your problems would eventually get solved. Over time yoga became more holistic. The practice didn’t stop when I left the studio. Yoga started to shape and eventually became my entire day, all day, every day. It showed up in my response to challenges, taught me where I can let go, and how I wanted to move through the world.
How has yoga influenced your personal life?
Yoga has taught me how to breathe through hard moments, how to pause before reacting, and how to hold space for both strength and softness in myself. Over time, it’s also helped me recognize the places where I had given my power away to others whether through doubt, people-pleasing, or shrinking myself to fit expectations. Through practice, I’ve learned how to call that power back and stand more fully in who I am.

To this day, I tell anybody who’s interested that teacher trainings have led me into some of the most transformative periods of my life and that if they have even the most fleeting thought about beginning their TT journey, to act on it as soon as they can.
The main lessons that have stuck by me are of course the obvious, discipline, the value in showing up for yourself, and the how quickly things can shift when you give something your full energy. But the biggest surprise was how much energy is really available to you when your cup is full and you’re surrounded by true positivity and joy.
