FEATURED ALUMNI: MICHELLE CHING

Where has yoga taken you?
Yoga has helped me through mind, body and soul. Since I started practicing yoga, I feel stronger and calmer. It has taught me to stay in the present and enjoy small wins in my life. Yoga has allowed me to live a pain free life. I was diagnosed with scoliosis at a young age and dealt with chronic back pains into my adulthood. Since practicing yoga I have been able to live a normal lifestyle without monthly visits to the chiropractor.

How did yoga teacher training influence your life?

Sonic TT helped me dig deeper into my yoga practice. I was so eager to know the fundamentals of yoga and I was so excited to create my own lesson plans for my daily flow. I was able to meet such wonderful teachers & yogi friends that I still keep in touch with. I’m forever grateful for the Sonic community and the knowledge I gained though the TT program.

What was your first yoga class experience?
I walked into my first donation class at ‘yoga to the people’ in St marks looking for a more active lifestyle.  It was a crammed studio not much of a connection but I enjoyed the practice. The flow of the classes never change which made it easier for me to follow.  It didn’t matter if I had a bad day, I knew once I stepped onto my mat I would leave with a smile on my face.
After a few months, I was looking for more of a challenge and a “home studio”. I bought a Groupon for Sonic Yoga and the rest was history. I stepped into Keith class for the first time and he was so welcoming. He offered modified poses when needed and guided us into the most amazing meditation. I instantly fell in love with the studio and the different teachers!
