The peak of summer is upon us. The key to enjoying the summer heat and using it to your advantage is to find the counterpose, by learning to cool your body down to balance the outer heat.
Visit us at Sonic where the teachers will be sure to take advantage of the outer heat to open your body in deep and powerful ways, but will always follow the practice with a cooling savasana to bring the body back to balance.
When you are out and about enjoying the summer heat be sure to jump in the water, or drink cooling hydrating drinks to keep your body energized. Also try this amazing Rose Water which you can store in your fridge and it can help to cool and refresh you at any point during your day!
What is Rosewater
Rosewater is exactly as it sounds, roses + water. It gives you all the benefits of water plus the bonus of the anti-inflammatory and hydrating advantages of rose. Plus it smells divine. It is also calming and cooling and helps to reduce heat and pacify Pitta.
What are the benefits of rosewater?
How to Use Rosewater:
Eye Wash: As a way to calm Pitta dosa and calm the mind.
Skin Toner – by and far this is the #1 way I like to use it.
In the bath – I’ll add about a cup to my bath water for extra hydration and relaxation from the scent.
Natural Perfume– This is a natural version that doesn’t have the hormone disrupting chemicals of many conventional perfumes.
Room Mister – Spray it on your sheets and towels so they smell great.
Face refresher/Make-up setter – Spray this on your face for a little pick me up.
How to Make Rose Water
Ingredients:
7 Organic Roses: red or pink are best to have that pretty red/pink color
Distilled Water: Enough to cover the petals or about 1.5 liters
7. You can also place it in a spray bottle to use as a face or room mist.
Store in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
