Dear Friends!

November has arrived. The Harvest.  I’ll share with you this tidbit from my journal the other day…

As the light dims, we are naturally drawn to go inside.  It is a perfect time to gather all that has transpired during the year and hold it gently with open hands, hearts and deep seeing eyes.  Once we have collected it there…sat with

it…once we bear witness, we have a chance to offer gratitude for all the journeys and lessons… both shadow and light.

We can practice the quiet art of true Santosa (contentment), which is not complacency, but reverence. We can seek to cultivate an understanding that the place we sit right now was circled for us on the map of our individual lives by a hand (sometimes seen, sometimes Yin-Yoga-Yogaunseen unseen) propelled by the gyring wheels of choice, karma, divine inspiration and guidance.

What is acknowledged and seen with openness, acceptance and gratitude releases and sinks deep into our foundation…it is sifted into the earth of our beings like so much leaf litter.

Then…the purified essence of that which has been transforms the groundwork of our lives and fertilizes the soil of all that is to come.

For the month of November, I offer you a simple beautiful mantra from the Kundalini Tradition which honors all parts of the life cycle and allows one to release the past into the fertile space of re-birth.

Sa Ta Na Ma: Which translates to birth, life, death, rebirth.  11 minutes

  1. Sit in an upright position on the floor or in a straight backed chair. Rest your hands on your knees with palms facing upwards.kundalinichakras
  2. Chant the syllables Sa, Ta, Na, Ma – lengthen the ending of each sound as you repeat them, …aaaaaaaaah.
  3. Touch your index finger tip to the tip of your thumb as you chant Sa.
  4. Touch your middle finger tip to the tip of your thumb as you chant Ta.
  5. Touch your ring finger tip to the tip of your thumb as you chant Na.
  6. Touch your pinky tip to the tip of your thumb as you chant Ma.
  7. Do the finger movements as shown in steps 3-6 as you chant in the following sequence:
    • Chant out loud for 2 minutes
    • Chant in a whisper for 2 minutes
    • Chant in silence for 4 mintues
    • Chant in a whisper for 2 minute
    • Chant out loud for 2 minutes

For some guidance and for those of you who like to chant with someone or have some visual help, check out this video which also teaches you how to tune-in in the Kundalini fashion.
