1. How has your understanding of yoga evolved since you first started practicing?

My understanding of yoga has evolved to include the day to day. When I first started practicing yoga, 27 years ago, it was just a movement practice I loved. Yoga was the asana class I took. Yoga started and ended in that 60 or 90 minutes. When I left class, yoga was over. What has evolved is the understanding that yoga is in everything and yoga is everything. It’s in our practices on and off the mat. It’s in our minds, in our behaviors, and in our movements. It is a deeply layered practice that extends far beyond the mat.

2. How has yoga influenced your personal life?

Yoga has always offered me a space to connect to myself and others and a place I can come to to find grounding and joy. I have learned so many lessons from my yoga practice that have influenced who I am and how I show up in the world for myself and others alike.

3. What are the key lessons you learned during your teacher training?

There are so many wonderful lessons I learned from my teacher training! The idea that yoga is not just for my body, but for my mind, body, and soul was deeply instilled in me via our daily practices and conversations. YTT taught me about the subtle body and the powerful nature of this study. I also learned that yoga is not just the asana practice but truly so much more.
