Summer is pitta season. In the system of Ayurveda which is based on the 5 elements of nature.
Pitta dosha is a combination of the fire and water elements. Heat activates Pitta and when there is an excess of Pitta, we can experience intense emotions, uncomfortable physical sensations and negative thoughts.
So, if you’ve been feeling angry, hot and irritable lately, it is likely due to elevated Pitta !
The wisdom of Ayurveda teaches us to balance out the heat of pitta, by applying the opposite. The cool calming loving energy of the Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu mantra, is the perfect antidote to open our hearts and cool us down and calm our minds.
Lokah samastah sukinoh bhavantu translates to:
May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
Repeating this mantra during meditation is a healing practice for pitta imbalance. When we chant the Lokah Samastah mantra we are relaxing into the universal vibration for peace and love. We offer this mantra from a place of generosity and compassion. It is a mantra that is chanted with an open heart and that also opens our hearts.
When we allow ourselves to open into a place of ease and grace we feel the authentic connection to this mantra. It instills a sense of peace and relaxation deep within our hearts.
The mantra allows us to chill out and stay cool, it calms the nervous system and awakens the receptive cooling lunar energy within.
You can chant this mantra when you are feeling hot, anxious, overwhelmed, impatient, angry, cranky, or stressed. The words and intention will purify and heal any excessive heat and bring you into a place of balance.
Try chanting it each morning as you start your day!
