FEATURED ALUMNI: PAMELA KALECHOFSKY

Where has Yoga has taken you?

Yoga has opened space within me & has brought me closer to myself, community, & friends. It has taught me mindfulness, important grounding & breathing practices, & has consistently provided a safe space for self exploration, learning, & growth. Yoga has sparked curiosity, creativity, & joy!

I am currently teaching vinyasa flow classes and am so humbled to be a part of the YTT staff at the studio I teach at. Through yoga classes & meeting people, I was introduced to instruments used in sound baths (which I now also offer), as well as other forms of healing that have been inspirational. Discovering yoga, and Sonic Yoga in particular, was a life altering experience.

How did your yoga teacher training influence your life?

YTT had a tremendous impact on my life. It offered me the opportunity to deepen my practice and merge my passion for teaching with yoga. I was introduced to powerful concepts that have positively influenced me and continue to do so. YTT was a true blessing & gift.

What was your first yoga class experience?
My first yoga class was mind blowing! It was 1998, I was 18, and in college. As a dance major we were required to take yoga; the class was taught by our modern dance teacher & yogi from India. I remember her breaking down various asanas and talking a lot about utilizing the breath. In all my years of dance thus far, I had not yet heard of anyone talk about mind-body connection and the power of breathing and the breath. It was a very profound experience. Andddd we got to perform a yoga asana dance on stage at the end of the semester with the other performance classes!
