You Are Bold

by Taquice Campbell

A reminder… from my ancestors… in this skin… you are bold, you are beautiful, you are brilliant, and you are bright!

I was always (and still continue to be) a curious being. Seeking answers to things I don’t understand, to moves I don’t have privy to, to experiences that aren’t my own. Some might mistake my inquisitiveness as mysterious or opportunistic. When it is my relentless thirst for gathering information and staying connected to the Universe.

Some questions still evade and perplex me… why haven’t we progressed as a people to accept everyone as they are? How are we still perpetuating inequitable environments that pose as fair? Why is equal access still implicit in some spaces and not the explicit norm?

Keep asking the questions… even if they might seem uncomfortable and ruffle a few feathers. Keep searching for answers… even if the journey seems a little winding and scary. Keep gathering information… even if at first it makes no sense or seems unrelated…

And to my family, my friends, and those that provide a welcomed challenge, I thank you for always sticking by and providing valuable answers to my never ending questions.
