CAROLINE ALARCÓN LOOR FEATURED ALUMNI

WHERE HAS YOGA TAKEN YOU?
YOGA has taken me further than I ever imagined, yoga is not just a sport, yoga can even be deeper than just poses if you do it constantly. Yoga is also meditation, patience, love, persistence, knowledge, kindness…the list goes on. I wouldn’t be where I am today without taking yoga seriously. I am more aware, more confident and know where to go when stress gets to me.

HOW DID YOUR YOGA TRAINING INFLUENCE YOUR LIFE?

My Yoga teacher  training taught me how to do the poses properly without hurting myself, it taught me how to work on specific poses and how life and the mind can work in almost the same way. It influenced the way I see problems, I am NOT okay with problems now. I solve them and work on them.
Aside from that, I’m also a photographer and I direct my clients with yoga cues! It really works!

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST YOGA CLASS EXPERIENCE?

My first yoga experience was not so great, It was in a gym class. The teacher was too pushy and wanted me to stretch and do poses when I wasn’t ready for them.  I stopped going and found Sonic Yoga, where I learned to do poses that I never thought I could do like a headstand. The whole Sonic Yoga teachers are indeed very serious about breathing while doing yoga and that sticks with you if you do it constantly.
At the studio my teachers who made a huge impact on me were Keith Pertington, Johanna Bell and Christopher Temple and with them a community of yogis who support you and cheer you along the way. I wouldn’t go back in time and change anything about my experience at Sonic.
